3 Self-Care Practices for a Busy Week

Because we all truly know that we can’t pour from an empty cup!
Let’s be honest—some weeks feel like a whirlwind. Between work, family, errands, and taking care of everyone else, it’s easy for you to put your own needs at the bottom of the list. But here’s a truth I’ve finally learned, a little self-care goes a long way, especially when life feels full.
Though a spa day or a massage may be nice, you just need a few simple, repeatable habits that remind your mind, body, and spirit that you matter too.
Here are 3 self-care practices for a busy week—easy enough to stick with, meaningful enough to make a difference:
1. A 10-Minute Morning Ritual
Before the chaos begins, take 10 minutes to set the tone for your day. This for me usually includes:
- A gentle cleanse and moisturizing routine
- A deep breath while applying a calming facial mist (mine contains relaxing lavender)
- A short prayer, affirmation, or moment of stillness
Even when I’m rushed, this quiet moment helps me feel centered—and when I skip it, I can feel the difference.
Try This: Keep your favorite products in a little tray or basket on the counter so it’s they are easy to grab and go.
2. A Weekly Face Mask & Caffeine Free Moment
One evening a week (usually Wednesday) I do a little “mini reset.” I brew a soothing cup of caffeine free coffee, apply a detoxifying face mask, and sit in stillness and alone—no phone, no TV, no pets and no hubby.
It’s not just about the mask. It’s about reminding myself that rest is productive too.
Try This: Set a recurring reminder on your phone to make it a real habit. And if you have kids let the family know: this is “Mom Time.”
3. A Sunday Prep Session for Skin and Hair
I spend 15–20 minutes on Sunday prepping for the week:
- Exfoliate my skin and apply a deep moisturizer
- Use a nourishing hair treatment or scalp serum
- Reorganize my beauty products so everything is in its place
It’s like hitting “reset” on how I feel about facing the days ahead.
Try This: Start out by creating a little checklist to tape inside your cabinet door, or on your mirror so you can run through it quickly.
Remember—Self-Care Isn’t Selfish
These aren’t luxuries. They’re the foundation for showing up as your best self—for your family, your work, and your own peace of mind. Small things can add up to a more calm and relaxing you.
